He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Leroy, Evelyn Millard, Argyle and Berniece Gillaspy; and his brother William Gillaspy Jr. (Billy).

He is survived by: his parents, Donna Gillaspy (Millard) of Altoona, Iowa. and William Sr. Gillaspy; his brothers, Mark Gillaspy (Angela) of Bondurant and Curtis Gillaspy (Heather) of Ankeny, Iowa; his children, Brandon Gillaspy (Emilea) and Madeline Gillaspy (Cory Hein); and his grandchildren, Walker Hein and Paisley Gillaspy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
