He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Andrew and Alice Marie Coy (Bryant); his siblings, Don and Mary; and his son Daniel Charles Coy.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Rinker Coy of Ames; his children, Janet Hofmeyer (John) of Oelwein, Julie Ann Coy (Peggy Hill) of Denver, CO and Doug Coy of Ames; his daughter-in-law Kayleen Park of Naperville; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Curtis, Joy Koopmans, Jeanette Hofmeyer, John Hofmeyer IV, Brandon Coy and Mira Coy. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
