He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Carol and Eileen Lucille Gostele (Halvorsen); and his brothers, Jim and Steven. He is survived by: his wife Carol Ninow; his children, Jefferson (Meghan) and Kallie Fields (Adam) of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Isla Gostele, Abby, Erin and Ethan Olberding; his brother William (Ginny) of Coal Valley, Illinois; and his stepchildren, Allison Olberding, Matthew Olberding, Dave Olberding (Suzi) and Alex Olberding. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Ames Public Library, Drake University, Bliss Cancer Center or Israel Family Hospice House.
