He was predeceased by: his parents, George William Nelsen and Bonnie Darlene Nelsen (Chapman, family: Anita); his children, Kyle and Anne; his sisters, Vera Eilts and Karen Griffin; and his siblings-in-law, Jim Symonds, Gary Symonds and JoAnn Symonds.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Symonds; his children, Devan Nelsen (Melissa), Brian Nelsen (Melinda), Cindy Aldrich (Marty) and Oscar Nelsen (Kelsie); his son-in-law Todd Thackery; his sister Marna Liddell; and his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Symonds and Karen Symonds. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Anita or Anita American Legion Post #210.
