It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Duane Alfred Schmidt (Arlington, Iowa), born in Oelwein, Iowa, who passed away at the age of 81, on June 19, 2021. He was predeceased by : his parents, Alfred Carl and Margaret Anna Schmidt (Lauck); his former life partner Arla Schmidt; and his brother-in-law Robert Longmuir. He is survived by : his spouse Arla Stegen; his children, Arlington, Ty Schmidt (Sylvia) of Janesville and Valerie Brooks (Doug) of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Chelsea, Rory, Logan, Kiersten, Erika Schmidt, Maggie and Jack Brooks; his sisters, Dorothy Ann Nus (Alvin) of North Carolina and Janice Longmuir of Minnesota; and his close friend Jean Cue of Oelwein. He is also survived by Many Nieces, Nephews & Cousins.

Due to Covid 19, the church requests, inside the church, those that have been vaccinated may choose to wear a mask or not and highly recommends that those who have not been vaccinated to wear a mask for the safety of the entire group.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established for the St. John Lutheran Church.
