He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Dirksen and Fannie Dirksen (Mundhenke); his wife Betty Jean Ellsworth; his brothers, Henry, Jerry and Elmer; and his son-in-law Lester Franey.
He is survived by: his children, Dan Dirksen (Carol) of Bettendorf, Donna Franey of Green City, Dawn Hamilton (Steve) of LeClaire and Dick Dirksen (Janet) of Wyoming, Michigan; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Dirksen, Andrea Nelson (Brandon), Casey Franey (Tamara), Langela Richardson (Mike), Lanida Czecus (Steve), Lacy Eisenburg (Mitch), Luke Franey (Angela), Kristin Chenoweth (Brad), Jodi Hamilton, Seth Hamilton (Joslyn), David Dirksen and Dan Dirksen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ethnos 360 (formally New Tribes Mission) or Pleasant View Baptist Church.
