She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Barkman and Alberta Barkman; her former husband Raymond Johnson; her husband Ray; her sister Barbara Barkman; and her brother-in-law E. Robert Walther.
She is survived by: her stepdaughters, Michele Neverman, Christine Beebe (Larry) and Julie Needham (Joe); her sister Kathleen Walther; and her nephews, Gregg (Dawn) and Mark Walther (Judy). She is also survived by nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren.
Memorials in Verna's memory may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
