He was predeceased by : his wife Sadie Honken; his son-in-law Thomas Shirer; his granddaughter Amy Nieman; his brothers, Albert, George and John Nieman; his sisters-in-law, Edith, Janet and Mavis; and his close friend Joyce Wilson.
He is survived by : his children, Avis Shirer (Nieman) of Britt and Marvin Neiman (Linda) of Forest City; his brothers, Roger Nieman (Renee) and Gary Nieman (Judy); his grandchildren, Jennifer Shirer-Vaske and Greg Nieman (Julie Monson); his great grandchildren, Nolan Vakse, Jaxson Vaske, Preston Vaske and Brenna Nieman; his stepgrandchildren, Allen Stokka (Katie), Anthony Stokka, Andrea Sandford (Ed) and Aadne Stokka; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Emmorie Cox (Eric), Austin Stokka and Chase Stokka; and his great great grandchildren, Kayden and Karson Stokka.
