He was predeceased by: his parents, Craig Smith and Iris Smith (Kisling); his son Scott Smith; his parents-in-law, Earl and Twila Short; his brother-in-law Dwight Short; his daughter-in-law Denise Smith; his uncle Lloyd "Doc"; his aunt Dorothy Smith; and his granddaughter Jancin Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Bea Short; his children, Clyde Smith (Deania) of Columbia, MO and Susan Smith of Cantril; his brothers, Allan Smith (Schelly) of Jefferson City, MO and Larry Smith (Sharon) of Mount Pleasant; his sister-in-law Barbara Short of Cantril; his grandchildren, Andrea Wood (Jared) of Columbia, MO, Kristin McLarren (Michael) of Columbia, MO and Craig Smith (Haley Hassinger) of Macon, MO; and his great grandchildren, Maya, Ezra Wood, Chase and Savannah McLarren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
