Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Alvernia Franklin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Thornton, Arkansas, who passed away at the age of 94, on January 10, 2021. She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Beets and Elizabeth Beets (Roach); her spouse Samie Franklin; her sons, James "Junior" Browning, Sr. and Dennis Watson; and her siblings, Mamie Beets, Lavernia "Smokey" Johnson, Alvin, James, Thomas and Bishop Paul Beets.
She is survived by: her children, Flossie Wright of Cedar Rapids, Shawn Franklin of Hiawatha, Floristine Turner of Las Vegas, Donnie Franklin of Cedar Rapids, Earnestine Clark of Memphis, Harriett Watkins (Antonio) of Marion, Vernelle Franklin of Cedar Rapids and King Browning of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Colbert "Billy" Beets (Clay) and Rev. Wendell Beets (Lenora); her sister-in-law Pastor Mary Beets of Cedar Rapids; her close friend Dorothy Cooper; and her cousin Alice Bell. She is also survived by 135 grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren.
