Amelia Gearhart Obituary
We are sad to announce that on April 1, 2021, at the age of 90, Amelia Gearhart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Chelsea, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her siblings, Nicholas, Bernard Upah and Mary Meger; her parents, Leo Upah and Albia Wobeter Upah; and her husband Charles "Chuck" Gearhart.
She is survived by: her children, Steven of Cedar Rapids, John (Mary Beth), Scott (Sue) of Mt. Vernon, Julie Kinkead (Jim) of Cedar Rapids and Jill McGarvey (Cory) of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Catrine, Cassandra, Jason, Stephanie, Cameron, Sean, Caitlin, Emily, Matt, Liz and Abby; and her siblings, Phyllis Hoffman of Cedar Rapids and Bob Upah (Betty) of Belle Plaine. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Those not attending the Vigil Service may visit with the family from 4:30 to 7 p. m. Per Covid guidelines, attendees are required to wear masks and practice social distancing.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
