With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Darlene Chmelicek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Chelsea, Iowa, who passed away on December 3, 2021 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Claes and Vlasta Claes (Kupka); her husband Joe; her son Tom; and her sister-in-law Helen Claes.
She is survived by: her former husband Joseph Chmelicek; her children, Jim Chmelicek (Sue) of Albuquerque, Mike Chmelicek (Kathy) of Hiawatha, Joe Chmelicek (Peggy) of Independence and Christine Stolba (Scott Boeckelmann) of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Christopher, Jesse, Craig, Jaime, Amanda, Jennifer, Melissa and Tim; and her brother Bob Claes (Loretta) of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to St. Ludmila Catholic Church or Hospice of Mercy in her name.
