He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward F. Hartl and Dora Hartl (Mackey); and his sisters, Josephine Rozinek, Dorothy Vislisel, Rose Barnett and Margaret Barta.

He is survived by: his children, Cindy Spivey (Tim), Mike Hartl (Jeri), Kathy Snyder (Ken) and Dennis Hartl (Jill); his grandchildren, Ted Spivey, Amy Yaukovitz, Jessica Spivey, Danyl Lown, Katie Spivey, Josh Hartl, Jeremy Hartl, Melissa Hartl, Michelle Snyder, Austin Snyder, Sarah Snyder, McKayla Hartl, McKenzie Hartl and Amelia Hartl; and his wife MaDonna Meskimen. He is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy and Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
