He was predeceased by: his parents, John McHugh and Evah McHugh (O'Leary); his wife Kay; his brother Gene; and his half-siblings, Margarette Anne, Bob and Dan.
He is survived by: his former wife Kaye Demmel; his children, Scott and Kelly Stearns (Ron); his grandchildren, Ryan McHugh (Gina), Jacob Stearns, Brandon Stearns, Jessica Allen (Justin), Sara Warson (Cody), Rachel Stearns, Christian Stearns and Kaitlin Dice (Eric); and his half-siblings, Mary Kathryn, John and Dennis. He is also survived by ten great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Veterans (Am Vets) Post 6 in Cedar Rapids.
