He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl Schaefer and Paula Schaefer (Burgy); his sister Helen Davenport (James Davenport); his brother-in-law William Olson; and his parents-in-law, Myron, Kathleen Rathjen, Raphael and Betty Kelly.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Schaefer; his children, Rev. Jeffrey Lee Schaefer (Debra) of Reno and Jill Ann Cross (Greg) of La Quinta, California; and his friend Hilda Pivaral. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
