He was predeceased by: his parents, Neuel Evens and Leora Evens (Hayes); his granddaughter Kaitlyn Evens; his parents-in-law, Howard and Genevieve Gritton of Clarence; and his siblings-in-law, Howard Emerson and Karen Blake.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Gritton; his children, Nick Evens (Kelly) of Cedar Falls, Pamela Lane (Dean) of Peoria and Lisa Fink (Mike) of Rochester, Minnesota.; his granddaughters, Karissa, Kelsey, Jessie Lane, Megan, Karli and Lauren Fink; and his sister Aileen Emerson of The Gardens.
