He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Sayers and Bessie Sayers; and his wife Dorothy "JoAnn" Kniffen (Mullinex). He is survived by: his stepchildren, Tim Kniffen (Pat) and Pam Rickabaugh (Dean); his grandchildren, Tracy, Crystal and Heather; his great grandchildren, Deaundre, Matt, Vania and Maddilynn; and his great great grandchild Braxton.
