He is survived by: his significant other Jeanette Thorson; his children, John Ernst (Maureen) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Joy Fitzgerald (John) of Dallas and Sherry Pilarczyk of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his siblings, Judy Kindig of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gary Ernst (Mary) of Cedar Rapids and Mike Ernst (Marcia) of Branson, Missouri; his grandchildren, Evan Ernst (Mindy), Lillie Ernst, Ryan Fitzgerald, Brendan Fitzgerald, Jenna Fitzgerald, Daisy Hanshaw (Derek), Mack Pilarczyk and Jamie Pilarczyk; his great-niece Stephanie Fangman (Clint) of Ely, Iowa; and his friend Tom Rosenberger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
