He was predeceased by: his daughter-in-law Chris; and his parents, Jim McInerney and Mary Lightner McInerney. He is survived by: his sons, Michael (Denise) of Centreville, VA, Patrick (Sandy) of Tonawanda, NY, John Jr. of Belvidere, IL and Robert (Misti) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Kristen, Katie, Alex, Leah, Hannah and Cameron; his great grandchild Dean; and his former wife Joan McInerney of Cedar Rapids.

Instead of flowers memorial may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
