He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Ortgies and Dena Shafer Ortgies; and his siblings, Berdena, Lara, Dorothy, Minnie, Helen and Pete.
He is survived by: his sister Wilma McKinstry of Washington, Iowa; his son Cal Ortgies (Kandy) of Cedar Rapids; his grandsons, Chris Ortgies (Katie) of Cedar Rapids and Sean Ortgies (Kelsey) of Minneapolis Minnesota; and his great grandchildren, George, Prudence, Fredrick and James.
Due to COVID 19 a private family service will be held at Cedar Memorial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association.
