He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Fairchild and Hannah Fairchild (Barlau); and his siblings, Marceline Nolte, Marjorie Smith, Shirley Fairchild and Hubert Fairchild.
He is survived by: his wife Marcella "Sally" Fairchild (Hogge); his son Steve; his grandsons, Kayle of Lisbon, IA and Gabriel of Lisbon, IA; his daughter Anne Fairchild of Cedar Rapids, IA; his sisters, Jeanette Manville of Santa Fe, NM, Suzi Zwemke (Ron) of Sandy, UT and Mary Kolb (Peter) of Dunedin, FL; and his brother-in-law Don Nolte (Clarice) of Edina, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
