Marilyn Nelson Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marilyn Nelson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Janesville, Wisconsin, who passed away on April 28, 2021 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Johnson and Jeannette Johnson; her husband John; her brother Robert B. Johnson; and her daughter-in-law Colleen Shaughnessy.
She is survived by: her sons, English, David Nelson (Robin) of Cedar Rapids, IA and James Nelson (late Colleen Shaughnessy) of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren, Katie, Benjamin, Emily, Colette and Liam Nelson; her brother Thomas Johnson (Ann) of Hickory, NC; and her sister-in-law Joanne Johnson of Beloit, WI. She is also survived by nephews and cousins.
The family asks that anyone attending please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marilyn's name to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
