He was predeceased by: his mother Jane Layden (Hvitfeldt); his stepmother Mary Ellen (Foresman); and his sister Susan Jane Garner. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Layden (Morrissey) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his children, Angie Simon (David) of Delafield, Wisconsin and Mike Layden (Amanda) of Farmington, Connecticut; his grandchildren, Charlie Simon, Caroline Simon, Sophia Simon, Will Layden and Victoria Layden; and his sister Sara Ann Molen.
