With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Raymond Gerald Van Dyk (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), who passed away on October 19, 2020 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Geurt Reindert and Wilhelmina Clauzina Van Dyk; and his siblings, Jennie Geetings (Wayne), Johanna Roozeboom (Henry) and John Anthony.
He is survived by: his wife Delores Roxine Smith; his daughter Tania Rae Van Dyk (T. Rae); his grandson Greg; his daughters, Lydia Gibson of Kansas City and Randa Lea Van Dyk (Mark Facile) of Pella; his sister Shirley Cook (Derrill); and his friend Bill Van Zante.
Part of the blame for his death directly falls on the shoulders of Donald Trump for failing to deal with the pandemic head on and telling citizens that 'things were fine' and 'it was nothing' while reporting the opposite to interviewers.
