He was predeceased by: his parents, Hadley Heater and Edna Belle Heater (Hall); and his sister Leola (Evelyn). He is survived by: his children, Jerry Heater (Linda) of Burlington, Iowa, Dan Heater (Gail) of Riverside, Iowa, R. Scott Heater (Janell) of Wapello, Iowa and Jo Keen (Jimmy) of Tallahassee; and his close friend Nelly (Labrador). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established for the Wapello First Responders and Fire Department or the Louisa County Conservation to fund youth hunter education.
