He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richard W. Pitner and Dorothy Pitner (Youngren); his wife Dolores Lohff (Dee); his children, Lisa Caterine (Matt) of Overland Park, KS, Tim Pitner (Jill) of Silver Spring, MD and Tom Pitner of Overland Park; his grandchildren, Ben, Nick Caterine, Janie and Ellie Pitner; and his sister Barbara Ogden.

Memorials may be directed in Dick's name to Brucemore, Indian Creek Nature Center, or Theatre Cedar Rapids.
