He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronald "Ron" Schueler and Ruth Marie Schueler (Hense); and his brother-in-law Robert Long. He is survived by: his son Makiah Miller of Iowa City, Iowa; his close friend Shari Miller of Mount Vernon; his sister Joan Long (Schueler) of Ames, Iowa; his nephews, Eric Nesset (Aleisha) of Los Gatos, Brad Nesset of Ames and Kirk Nesset (Amy) of Bondurant, Iowa; and his cousins, Tom Kee of Racine, Mary Hense of Orlando and Jim Hense of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.. He is also survived by friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for the trust fund established for his son, Makiah.
