He was predeceased by: his parents, George C. Hay and Mildred M. Hay (Sidlinger); his parents-in-law, Rudolph and Ludmila Novak; his brother U. S. Navy Captain Donald G.; and his siblings-in-law, John Kassler (Pete), Phillip Yeisley, Carol Yeisley and Eugene Novak.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce E. Novak; his sister Leota Kassler of Storm Lake, IA; and his children, Thomas Hay (Suzanne) of Hutchinson, MN, Michael Hay (Deane) of Strawberry Point, IA, Steven Hay (Ken) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Laura McLain (Patrick) of Eldridge, IA.. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
