Schmiedel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Winona, Minnesota, who passed away on July 30, 2021, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert O. Schmiedel and Harriet Schmiedel (Updegraph); his son Joseph; and his brothers, Gilbert and Edward.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Lockhart of Cedar Rapids; and his son Daniel Schmiedel of Windsor Heights.
