He was predeceased by: his parents, George Deetz and Zelma Deetz (Wittkop); his wife Shirley A. Witt; his son Thomas Deetz; his brothers, Roger, George and Edward Deetz; and his siblings' children, Denise and Ron.
He is survived by: his children, Barb Deetz of Cedar Rapids, IA, Scott Deetz (Kathryn) of Marion, IA and Kim Duffy (Charlie) of Independence, MO; his granddaughter Nicole Deetz; his brother Loren Deetz of Iowa City, IA; and his nieces, Sharon, Bev, Karen, Janis, Deb, Jan, Sandy and Terri.
