With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Royal D. Norman (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), born in Lamoni, Iowa, who passed away on April 23, 2018 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Wesley Norman and Opal Gertrude Norman (Naylor); his parents-in-law, Everett Crystal and Bertha Elkin Crystal; his siblings, Phyllis Holtam and Gene Norman; and his siblings-in-law, Donald Holtam, Lyle Fletchall, Estle Short, Harry Barrick, Connie Norman and Viola Short-Barrick.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth; his children, Jeffrey Norman (Heather) of Iowa City, Bradford Norman of Ely, Cortland Norman (Judy) of Bradenton, Crystal Bast (Brian) of Cedar Rapids and Jennifer Norman (Esteban Asencio) of Dominican Republic; his grandchildren, Jason Norman (Stephanie), Sybil Norman, Jesse Norman, Meghan Bast, Nicholas Bast, Davíd Asencio, Sarah Drea (David) and Kristen Goldsberry (Ty); his great grandchildren, Wesley Norman, Penelope Tjerina, Sophie Norman, Tate Norman and Finn Norman; his siblings, Doris Fletchall of Argyle, John Norman (Marlene) of Webster City and Richard Norman (Monica) of Tampa; his siblings-in-law, Everett Crystal (Carol), William Crystal (Diane), Evelyn Simpson (Dean), Georgianna Gourley (Gary), Jean Kayser (Jon), Mary Boicourt (Marvin) and Dorothy Buchner (Fred); and his siblings' children, Scott Norman (Meredith), Kim Holtam (Dallas), Vali Hale (Bruce), Vicki Suntken (Rick), Cheryl Robinson (William), Cassandra Nash (Robert), Marla Bates (Kevin), Jonna Tudor (Rick) and Lana Lode (Kelly). He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, friends may, if they wish, make a memorial contribution in Royal's name to Noelridge Christian Church or Camp Courageous.
