She was predeceased by: her parents, Martin Thorson and Jean Thorson (Jahnke). She is survived by: her husband Terry Thomas; her siblings, Robin (Steve), Marty (Rita) and Jon (Connie); her stepson Justin; and her pet Onyx.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Val's family.
