He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Detert and Agnes Detert (Fisher); his brothers, Leonard Detert, Norbert Detert and Donald Detert (Phyllis); his stepson Richard Detert; his sister Martha Mekota (Edwin); his brothers-in-law, Donald Logan, Ray Musil, Charles Musil and Arthur Stark; and his former wife Lorraine Detert.
He is survived by: his children, Sandy Detert of Jackson, Ronnie Detert (Wanda) and Valencia Pospisil (Darrel); his siblings, Vernon Detert of North Liberty and Wilma Logan of California; his former wife Irene Detert of Cedar Rapids; his sisters-in-law, JoAnn Detert of Anamosa and Ruth Stark of Cedar Rapids; and his significant other GenRose Smucker of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
