It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Douglas John Nelson (Charles City, Iowa), who passed away on June 11, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Nelson and Ethel Nelson; his wife Jerri; his siblings, Bertha Cornwell, Vera Cole and Ronald Nelson; his parent-in-law L. R. (Budd); and his siblings-in-law, Gary Ellery (Skip) and DiOnna Ellery.
He is survived by: his children, DeNeitt VanDenBroeke (Dale) of Spirit Lake and Bret Nelson (Tina) of Vinton; his grandsons, Derick VanDenBroeke (Gwen), Devin VanDenBroeke (Tiff), Tanner Nelson (Alison), Justin Nelson (Meaghan) and Dalton Nelson (Madison); his great grandchildren, Ally, Oliver, Dillon, Clara, Anniko and Hannah; his sister Janet Cords; and his sister-in-law Ervine Nelson. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Floyd County Veterans Affairs Volunteer Van Drivers program, or to a charity of your choice.
