He was predeceased by : his parents, Ansel Ellis and Alice Ellis (Draeger); his brothers, Bill and Leland Ellis; and his parents-in-law, John and Kathryn Holmseth.

He is survived by : his wife Ruthanne Holmseth; his children, Robert Ellis (Shelby), Russell Ellis (Lori), Randall Ellis (Heather) and Rhonda Schmidtke (Mike McAvoy); his grandchildren, Beau (Lauren), Brandon (Grace), Megan (Dave), Blake (Lyndsey), Jenna (Tyler), Taylor (Raphael), Samantha, Tyler (Courtney), Evan (Sadie), Tanner, Keaton (Sydney), Ava, Brayden, Simon and Addison; his great grandchildren, Caleb, Carleigh, Kiersten, Lucas, Leo, Cooper, Landon, Callum, Alexander, Niko, Cora, Finn, Noa and Ezra; his sisters, Phyllis Foxen and Beverly Foxen (Jerome); and his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Walkup, Joyce Drahn and Kay Shelton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
