He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Heschke and Ethel Heschke (Spears); his children-in-law, Gordon Jones and JoLynn Heschke (Nelson); and his siblings-in-law, Luverne, Robert, Clifford, Darrel Vannatta, Kenneth Patten, Delores Vannatta and Marion Vannatta.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Vannatta of Cherokee; his children, Larry (Jean) of Cherokee, Duane of Aurelia, Pam Cronin (Mike) of Cleghorn and Twyla Schmillen (Kevin) of Cherokee; his grandchildren, Lane Jones (Barb) of Rembrandt, Jeanna Morgan (Gabe) of Merrill, Kim Galles (Nate) of Fort Dodge, Angela Meredith of Lake View, Kris Fleener (Luke) of Duncombe, Kelly Price (Jeff) of Chandler, Kathy Leach (Mike) of Cherokee, Dustin Schmillen (Holly) of Cherokee, Tara Junker (Aaron) of Cedar Falls, Roger Howard (Carrie) of Ankeny, Becky McGee of Fonda, Ronda Howard of Sioux City, Ray Howard (Lacey) of Tennessee and Renee Stull (Lonny) of Storm Lake; and his sisters-in-law, Darlene Patten, Dolores Vannatta and Linda Vannatta. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Church of Christ in Cherokee, Iowa.
