With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard DeWitt (Clarksville, Iowa), who passed away on March 8, 2020 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Berend L. DeWit and Flora DeWit (Hoodjer); his daughter Terri; and his brothers, Robert "Bob" DeWitt and Philip DeWitt.

He is survived by : his former life partner Helen Gallmeyer; his wife Mary Jean Smith of Clarksville; his children, Mike DeWitt (Mary Jane) of Abilene, Lori DuCharme of Oelwein, Toni Slaughter (Chris) of Wellsburg, Curtis DeWitt (Tabitha) of Shell Rock and Corey DeWitt (Nicole) of Shell Rock, Iowa; his grandchildren, Wesley DuCharme (Angela), Matthew DuCharme (Alex), Joel Slaughter (Amber), Elizabeth Slaughter, Ryan Slaughter (Maritza), Chloe DeWitt and Cohen Dewitt; his siblings, Ben DeWitt (Cathi) of Shell Rock, MaryAnn Guinta and Molly Howell; and his siblings-in-law, Jan DeWitt, Kitty Yost of Clarksville, Pat Eiklenborg of Aplington, Cindy Nordman (Kelly) of Clarksville and John Smith (Sara) of Cedar Falls, Iowa. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
