He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Mercer and Lela Mercer (Johnson); his former wife Mary Ann Oshel; his wife Louisa Lucille Clark; his stepchildren, Donnie, Jerry and Betty; his stepdaughter-in-law Pat Clark; his brother Donald Mercer; and his siblings-in-law, Glenn Payton and Christa Oshel.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Mercer (Louisa) of Diagonal, IA, Patty Rowe (Mike) of Sheridan, MO and Diane Stephenson (Ron) of Eldon, IA; his stepchildren, Juanita Adams (Junior) of Mount Ayr, IA, Bob Clark of Sunrise Beach, MO and Steve Clark (Barb) of Redding, IA; his stepdaughter-in-law Nancy Clark of Creston, IA; his siblings, Ernie Mercer (Judy) of Kellerton, IA, Donna Payton of Lamoni, IA and Dola Doser (Raymond) of Lovilia, IA; and his siblings-in-law, Larry Oshel of Diagonal, IA, Janet Mercer of Mount Ayr, IA and Sherri Armstrong (Larry) of St Petersburg, FL. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
