It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved John P. Benda (West Des Moines, Iowa), born in Washington, District of Columbia, who passed away at the age of 80, on April 17, 2024. He was predeceased by : his parent Katherine Minor; his stepfather Fred Benda; his aunts, Mildred Zeadow and Margaret Brown; his uncle John Minor; and his brother-in-law Art Bachmann.

He is survived by : his wife Sandi Benda; his daughters, Stefanie Musel (Scott), Kathryn Carney (Shane) and Johnette Johnson (Chad); his grandchildren, Jonathan, Daniel Musel, Mary, Leo, Anna Carney, Noah and Libby Johnson; his sister Mary Bachmann; and his nieces and nephews, Artie Bachmann, Matt Bachmann and Jamie Groleau.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 8th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1627 Grand Ave, West Des Moines, IA 50265). A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 8th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers or donations please take your family out for ice cream in his honor which was Grandpa John's favorite treat.
