He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Biermann and Hazel Biermann (Anderson); his wife Mildred Lea Hensley; and his siblings, Richard Biermann and Doris Fernandez.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Biermann Hoobin (Jeff) of Johnston, Michael Biermann of Waukee and Ann Mattiussi (Mike) of Waukee; his grandsons, Jeffrey William Hoobin of Des Moines, Nicholas Hoobin of Johnston and Nathan Mattiussi of Waukee; and his sister Phyllis Howell of Des Moines. He is also survived by his seven nieces and nephews.
