He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Joseph Cremers Sr. and Louise Catherine Braun; his brother Alan; and his brother-in-law Frank. He is survived by: his wife Cherie Sweeting of Mary's Church; his children, Elizabeth Deninger (Michael) of Iowa City, Cordell Cremers (Jennifer) of Iowa City and Spencer Cremers (Emily) of Troy, MI; his grandchildren, Reed, Madeline, Andrew, Nathan, Maggie, Abigail, Truman and Vivienne; his siblings, Gerald Cremers (Carol), Corrine McKnight (Jim), Linda Bixby (David), Lois Olson (Doug), Dale Cremers (Judy) and Donald Cremers; and his sister-in-law Peggy Cremers.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 15th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church (3000 12th Ave, Coralville, IA 52241). A Mass was held on Friday, January 16th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. He and Cherie biked regularly for more than 40 years; during the COVID pandemic, he settled into a routine of riding exactly 17 miles almost every day throughout spring, summer, and fall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Systems Unlimited and Reach For Your Potential, organizations that provide living arrangements for people with special needs - causes Bernie supported through his work at Towncrest Pharmacy. Contributions may also be made to the Iowa City Community School District Foundation, or to St. Thomas More Church.
