He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward Herman Pettit and Agnes Pettit (Jones); his siblings, Jerry, Donald Pettit and Lucille Meisenheimer; and his close friend Lee West.

He is survived by : his wife Betty Pettit of Corning; his son Michael Pettit of Creston; his grandsons, Adam and Aaron Pettit; his siblings, Billie Pettit (Lynda) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Joann Lemon of Winterset and Janice Fisher of Bethany; and his siblings-in-law, John Scott (Penny) of Indianola and Kathy Konecne (Reldon) of Corning.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Prescott United Church Disciples of Christ and/or St. John's United Church of Christ in Creston.
