He was predeceased by : his parents, Carroll Douglas and Maxine Mae Mercer (Carr); his brother Richard; his father-in-law Byron Steadman; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Jordan, Kathlyn Keever, Kevin Leonard and Bryan Steadman.

He is survived by : his wife Janet Debra Steadman of Corning; his sons, Cody Mercer (Krissy) of Port Washington and Clay Mercer (Kristyn) of Corning; his grandchildren, Briggs, Mavryk, Colten and Haven; his siblings, Denny Mercer (Deb) of Waukee and Janice Mercer Leonard of Corning; his mother-in-law Phyllis Steadman of Corning; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Cosaert (John) of Madison Wisconsin and Carol Olive (Doug) of Corning. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
