It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Soledad Mendoza Tamayo (Council Bluffs, Iowa), who passed away on November 20, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Pascual Mendoza and Dolores Mendoza (Huerta); her sons, Moses and Paul; her grandchildren, Saxon Alexis Watt and Ethan Wood; and her siblings, Gonzalo, Pascual, Leopoldo and Conception "Connie" Owens.
She is survived by: her children, Lourdes Mendoza of Council Bluffs, Christine Tamayo-Watt of Council Bluffs, Soleda Tamayo of Council Bluffs, Jesse Tamayo (Sue Cook) of Omaha and Alberto "Phil" Tamayo of Council Bluffs; her siblings, Carmela Cordova of Omaha, Maria Stockton (Jim Tijerina) of Council Bluffs, Jesus Mendoza (Janice) of Council Bluffs, Arturo Mendoza (Helen) of Council Bluffs, Cristina Blakely (Joe) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Santiago and Sandy; and her sisters-in-law, Silvia Mendoza and Manuela Mendoza. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 24th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home & Crematory (545 Willow Ave, Council Bluffs, IA 51503). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church (3304 4th Ave, Council Bluffs, IA 51501).
Memorials will be directed by the family.
