He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernie Raymond Smith and Evelyn Mary Smith (Huddleson); his daughter Colleen Smith; and his grandson Derek Jade Guthrie. He is survived by: his wife Julie Howard (Paul) of Creston; his daughters, Raeleen Smith of Creston, Rena Cheers (David) of Afton, Leilani Osborne (Andy) of Sioux City and Allison Frost (Sean) of LeGrande; his foster daughter Deanne Hahn (Tom) of Arizona; his sons, Allen Smith (Melissa) of Tracy, Sean Smith (Kerri) of Adel and Eric Howard (Jessica) of Gilman; his sister Sandra Sue Hill (Ramen) of Kihei; his stepmother Jannie Calvin of Creston; and his siblings, Diana Smith Manual of Phoenix, Ariz, Dennis Smith of Creston, John "Bubba" Smith of Creston and Raymond Holmes of Afton. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
