He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Walter Miller and Marian Miller (Bailey); his wife Elaine Petersen; his children, Diane Wilhelm (Mike Holmes) of Delmar, Scott Miller (Leslee) of Mankato, Rita Mueggenberg (Dennis) of Ames and Sarah Miller (Daniel Wells) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Brian Wilhelm (Jill), Erik Wilhelm (Jessica), Alexandra, Megan and Luke Mueggenberg; and his brother William Miller (Wanda) of Ankeny. He was also cherished by many great-grandchildren.
