He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Miller and Cecelia Miller (Dietrich); his sisters, Elaine Gillaspey and Kathy Day; and his pet Sam.

He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Miller of Panora; his stepchildren, Ann Stough (Paul) and James Riceman; his grandchildren, Andy Thomas (Sara) and Ali Ernst (Alex); his great grandchildren, Gabriel Paul Goodson and Lenyx Ernst; and his siblings, Clare Miller, Barbara Oleson (Raymond) of Waukee, Jim Miller (Cheri), Randy Miller, Pat Miller (Betty) of Winterset and Mark Miller. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
