He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis J. Fier and Inga Fier (Christiansen); and his siblings, Gloria Lichner, Margaret Seifert, Andrea Fier, Francis "Buddy" Fier, Dale Fier and James Fier.
He is survived by: his wife Linda K. Balk March; his children, Shawn Fier (Carolyn), Tom Fier (Denise), Eldridge and Ryan Fier (Sarah); and his grandchildren, Gabriella, Maria, Isabella, Jonathan, Jacob, Mackenzie, Lauren, Julia, James and Michael.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Lodge and Stead Family Children's Hospital, University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.
