He was predeceased by : his father Virgil Schmidt; and his grandparents, Fred, Jenny Gray, Paul and Lucy Schmidt.

He is survived by : his mother Garlene Schmidt; his wife Sue Schmidt; his daughters, Leah and Geena Schmidt; his sister Natalie; his brother-in-law Ron Becker; and his nephews, Matt and Jake Becker. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request memorials be made out to Ruth Harbor House or Dorothy's House.
