With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Hamilton of Epworth, Iowa, born in Dubuque, Iowa, who passed away on August 12, 2020 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, George Hamilton and Viola Mary Hamilton (Bahl); his wife Joan; his siblings, Tom "Tim" Hamilton and Mary Alice Hamilton; and his siblings-in-law, Dorie Streng, Gloria Streng, Geri Streng, John Streng, Bob Streng, Peter Schaaf and Fred Neiers.

He is survived by : his children, Stephanie McDermott (Tom) of Cascade, IA, Robert Hamilton (Carmen) of Minnetonka, MN, Amy Boll (Jeff) of Asbury, IA, Kristy Lenz (Greg) of Dubuque, IA and Peter Hamilton (Cathy) of Urbandale, IA; his sister Sue Beaver (Jerry) of North Liberty, IA; and his siblings-in-law, Denise Streng, Clara Streng, Grace Schaaf of Mineral Pt, Mary Neiers of Cascade and Lloyd Streng of Dubuque, IA.. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters.

Public burial with social distancing etiquette in place will be held at 12:15 p. m., on August 15, 2020 at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Epworth, IA with full military honors afforded by the Epworth American Legion John White Post #650.

In lieu of flowers Dick's wishes were to have donations given to Hospice of Dubuque, Epworth American Legion John White Post #650 and St. Patrick's Church of Epworth.
